Ok, I know this is not uplifting and in spite of the difficult world we live in,
I am still grateful for all the good stuff. Friends, family, including of course our furry friends, without which I couldn't survive! But I am especially grateful to have you all back in my life.

Thought this article might provoke some discussion and we needed a new post. When I find good stuff, I can't always figure out how to post it. Thank you technical gods for getting Sherry back online and healing light to Deni's machines.

I hope you all have a most wonderful holiday weekend. Stay warm and safe and well fed!

Hugs,
Candy and Daisy

Unbelievable, no?

Very sad the article you linked to. I'm stunned actually.

I do have a small bit of uplift to contribute. From Louisiana, where the Democrat John Bel Edwards, won the Governorship over "Diaper Dave" Vitter. Vitter was considered unbeatable, but a few months before the election the tide began to change with Edwards taking the lead. Right after the Paris attacks Vitter spent untold amounts of money flooding the airwaves with anti-immigrant fear-mongering. Here's a link to one of his tv ads. It's from a show, but it gets to the ad right away:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LZH3TSoJH8

Anywho, Vitter absolutely inundated the state in the last week coming up to election. The headlines read "Louisiana governor race descends into an all-out war". There were strong feelings that this would make the race either very close or Vitter would outright win because of the ads, the fear and because, Louisiana!

All those voices were wrong. Not just a little bit wrong. But completely wrong. On election night, the early voting was counted first and Edwards was creaming Vitter. As the night's votes poured in, Edwards was still creaming Vitter, to the same tune as the early voting. Vitter's fear campaign did not move the voters one iota. The end result was 55-45 percent. Headlines read: "In Landslide, Vitter Loses Louisiana Governor’s Race."

There may be a lot of noise from Teahadists, Congress and Repub Candidiates, but perhaps the actual majority of people are beginning to see the light. Perhaps just as hearts and minds changed on LGBT issues (while storms raged louder than ever against those issues), hearts & minds are changing on Immigrants and fear as a fucking motivator.

That's the vision I'm going to hold. Because nothing else is acceptable.

Thanks for this post Candy! And a pat and a smooch to Dances with Snow

That's what we have to do-stay linked to the voices of reason and sanity and get as
loud as we can. I think you are exactly right, people are starting to tune out the
xenophobes and bigots and thinking about their humanity. And the Vitter thing-scary cause, Louisiana; but the reasonable guy not only prevailed, but won handily. And we are talking Louisiana!! There has to be hope for the rest of the country. I think the main stream media is actually no longer mainstream, but has become an echo chamber for various vested interests. They act like lemmings rushing to the latest sensational story, the more grotesque the better, with nothing of value to contribute on the reporting or commenting side. Very sad. They are unfortunately in service to the status quo.

I think most people are sick of all this negativity-it doesn't get us anywhere. Thanks for the video, Deni. I love the phrase "Teahadists", I think you may want to grab the domain name for that. Sounds like an Onion sketch waiting to happen.

Dances with Snow and I are only ankle deep in snow, which isn't too bad. She does love to play in it, but I can't be out too long or the horrible cough comes on.
I'm doing better, but it's been very slow.

Have a wonderful weekend all you creative and smart women-AKA the FABS!

Hugs,

Dear Candy and Dances with Snow,

Domain name grabbing! Interesting idea...

I have also developed a cough. I found these 2 healing recipes online and thought I'd pass them along to you. They should both be excellent.

The 1st is to quickly alkalize the body.

Along with alkalizing and thereby making it difficult for pathogens to live, lemons contain vitamin C and potassium. When the body is alkaline, the oxygenation of the blood is increased

Squeeze the juice from 2 small lemons into a 16 ounce glass,
Add 2 teaspoons of evaporated cane juice (or honey)
and water (preferably spring or well water).

You can combine the lemon juice with pineapple juice. This yields the benefits of both, and it removes the need for a sweetening agent. The product of the two is better than either juice alone. It tends to have a nice sweet-sour taste

The 2nd is for eliminating cough and lung inflammation.

as powerful as any cough syrup and faster acting

1 green tea bag (you can use a regular black tea bag but it's not as healing as the green)
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon thyme
2 teaspoons honey
Juice of half a lemon

placing the tea bag and herbs into a coffee mug with boiling water.
Let them seep for three minutes, then strain before adding the honey and lemon.

Some of the herbs have a numbing effect that is soothing to lung and throat pain. For especially bad lung irritation, this tea may be used in conjunction with mullein, but this should rarely be necessary. (Mullein helps relieve bronchitis, especially when accompanied by congestion, hoarseness, fever and coughing. The saponins and iridoid glycosides can help relax the bronchial tubes, loosen thick mucuc, soothe the respiratory tract and promote expectoration.) You probably want to add the mullein.

I haven't done the 1st one, the alkalizer, yet. But I've done the coughing, lung inflammation one and it is working.

It was in the high 70's yesterday. Today it's already in the low 40's and headed downward. It's raining like hell!. Soooo weird.

Happy Black Friday,

Thank you so much. I will give it a try. This has gone on long enough!

Hope you all are doing great. Still cold here, low 20's. I know how to post pictures now,
Got some help from the family. So that is cool. If anyone wants me to post something just
email it to me and I think I can post it.

Take care all you fabulous FABS.
