My youngest daughter: who's that?
Me: That's Bill Clinton.
Her: Is he related to Hillary Clinton?
And
last night my child was agog that he (Bill) was ever POTUS.
Finally asked, But she was really in charge then, right?

Hahahaha! Oh be still my heart. I just love that.

What an incredible Convention!
All the misery and disgust generated by the other party's nomination of cheeto-jesus, the orange tiny-handed man has been blown out the window.
The Dem Convention is the best I've ever seen. It is hilarious, moving and inclusive. It looks, feels and sounds like the America we all know is here. The America of dreams and shattered glass. The sorrow and the stuggle. The joys and the accomplishments.
All those beautiful strong women. All those confident wonderful men. It's just a damned joyous beautiful fucking thing. My heart and soul are totally lifted. And Goddess did I need this!
Are we all watching Fabettes? Because this is so Fabette-Worthy. And I don't say that about many things. Well I've never typed it. But I have thought it. So ya know, there's that.
I have C-Span going in the background, watching the repeat from yesterday. Although I do have it on tape, for those moments in the next 100 days when I start feeling a little chicken-little coming on.

Ah Ms. Deni, you have echoed my sentiments - as SO often happens! We have been subjected to a barrage of demoralizing anti-American toxic spew from the Repug sewer, the Dem convention feels like a lifeline. And I remember the feelings I had when Barack selected Joe, I have that same sense about Mr. Kaine. WE HAVE HOPE, HOPE and more HOPE for the future of our country.
Go Dems, America has never needed you more than we do now.

Oh! I am so glad.
I emailed an old old friend of mine and asked if he was watching. He said no. He preferred Warren. I just burst into tears. I don't know why. He, an African American man and I had shared so much enthusiasm during Obama's campaign, it just broke my heart that he was missing this incredible convention because this first woman, to him, isn't the right woman. She isn't good enough. And I don't understand that. I know it's a prevalent feeling, but I don't understand.
the Dem convention feels like a lifeline. That's exactly what it is for me. I am amazed at how brilliant it's been. Trayvon Martin's mother and all the mothers just destroyed me.
Tim Kaine! His name was my least favorite of the often leaked list. I wasn't thrilled. But Hillary has made so many right decisions during her campaign, I trusted her judgement. Kaine had endorsed Obama in 07, long before most others did. So I figured she must really trust and think highly of him. And then ya know, I went researching. I was so blown away by his history, his person. I completely understood why she chose him. And I am now a fan. What a good fine honest man, he is.
Obama gave one of the greatest speeches of his life last night. And reliving the almost 8 years of his remarkable achievements. He brought Bill up out of his seat, clapping, smiling with tears streaming down his face. It did make me feel proud of us Dems and so hopeful.
Thank you again for posting to my post, Sherry. It meant the world to me.

When Hillary Clinton is elected:
My daughter's first memories of a president will be of a woman.
I started crying when I read that.
Can you even imagine...?
and this one:
My daughter will grow up with her first memories of a female president.
Thinking about that, about growing up with that, is just stunning.

Hi FABS,
Hope you are all well and staying cool this summer! It's been hot and
the air has been filled with smoke from the fires that are burning here.
The one that is an hour north, near the Wyoming border, won't be under
control until October. Playing havoc with my asthma. But it is a beautiful
place to live. And everyone has been dealing with some weather/climate issues
this past year.
Deni-I love your posts; it has been wonderful to read all the comments. You are
truly a creative genius! Has anyone heard from Agy? Hope they are ok. I have
watched a bit of the convention and thought it was great. My first thought was
that the people there represent America's future and the Repubs are the past.
They know it and are fighting the inevitable and seem determined to take the
rest of us down with them. Very sad!! Best to focus on the good stuff going on.
So I am not watching the news when it comes to politics and will just work locally
to make sure Hillary is elected.
Not sure if it is of interest, but maybe I can explain why I am not very enthusiastic about Hillary Clinton. For me it has nothing to do with her
personally. I believe what people say who know her; that she is warm, funny and
very available in person. And don't blame her for any of the crap that too many
people rant on about. I think it is completely unfair that she is held to a different standard than any of these men who have ever run or served! None of
whom is without there issues-most bigger then hers!
My problem with the Clintons and many in the Democratic party is the lack of a real
agenda to restore the health of the middle class and provide opportunity and hope
for the future for the majority of our country.
We have become slaves to the corporate state, sold our political power to consumerism and rely on war and punishment to make us feel powerful in the world.
I have lived too much of my life with this soul-destroying, negative approach.
Too many Dems have bought the Repub strategy to serve the moneyed interest and keep
the average person afraid, in order to stay in power. People like Harry Reid, Chuck
Schumer and my own Senator, Michael Bennet. Very sad, no real love of country, just
an agenda that keeps them in power and guarantees them a cushy retirement.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone in the White House can change it much. I think Obama tried, but the system is entrenched and powerful.
But better Hillary, than tp, of course and i will vote and hope for the best. I am
glad to have a woman to vote for and hope that it will make a difference.
But like many Republicans, I don't feel as if I have a party anymore. Back to being
an independent, I guess.
I certainly better after the convention, because I was reminded, in such a wonderful way, that the country is so much bigger and better than any one person,
and there are so many smart, dedicated and truly good people, that hopefully, we
will be alright in the end.
I like that saying from "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"; Things will be alright in the end, so if things aren't alright, it must not be the end!
Anyway I wish Hillary all the best and will do my best to convince everyone I know
that this is an important, literally critical election and they must vote, and for
Hillary.
I do love that Chloe, my grandaughter, will cast her first vote (she turns 18 on Sept 29) for a woman. That is amazing and long overdue!!
Thanks for listening! I've missed you all. I love chatting with you FABS!
Hugs,
Candy
Candy!
Hallooooo! Love your post. I've been trying to get to it to post back all week. But I've been outside working in the mornings and by the time I come inside from that, I'm unfit for human consumption.
I'm still doing sun-fried and skeeter-bombed so today my brain will not function. But I want to chat some about this. I'm not sure what, but it'll come to me. It's just gonna take me a few more days to focus. Dear gawd it's hot.
Things will be alright in the end, so if things aren't alright, it must not be the end!
Tres Fabulous!
Years ago I saw a card that said

Good morning FABS
I do enjoy processing all your pearls of wisdom and humor. And Candy, what a "first election" this this is for Chloe! Let us implore the cosmos that it is a one-off and after we have voted down the tp megalomaniac, sanity will be restored to life and elections. (A girl can dream?)
So sorry about all that heat in Texas.....NO DAMN FAIR!! I can really relate to the effects of heat extremes on the body and brain. When a hot spell is visited upon us Oregonians, we are pathetic in our whining and inability to function. We do use it as an excuse to eat lots of ice cream though.......silver lining?
:-}
Be well and stay hydrated y'all,

I have surfaced! Damn I just can't seem to rise above the heat. And it isn't fair!! But according to the weather people, it will dip seriously below 100 at the end of the week, I see daylight at the end of the tunnel. However it is Texas. So there are no guarantees.
My tomatoes have mites. The Dwarf Adelaide Festival was only the first tomato to succumb. The others are quickly following. Unfortunately I can only do so much with the mite killing neem oil and soap and water stuff, because the weather is too damn hot. It just further fries the tomatoes.
Candy! Have you by any chance looked at Hillary's agenda? I was impressed with her plans. I spent a long time researching both Hill and Bernie's platforms. While Bernie never seemed to really flesh out how he would accomplish his goals, Hillary had those details down. And in reality their platforms were quite similar. So I went with Hillary.
Very exciting, there is a possibility of taking back the Senate and even the House. If we could do that, we could accomplish great changes in this country! There have been many primary losses by tea party incumbents in state races. They are losing their clout. I believe change is marching forward!
Ice cream is always a silver lining! Not to mention root beer floats! Gosh I haven't had one of those in ages. They used to be my favorite thing. That and slow-pokes! Does anyone remember those? Caramel on a stick! OOOO yummy!
Are we all watching the Olympics? I tape it and then watch the parts I'm interested in. And of course my fav, the womens soccer! I keep missing the taping of the soccer though. I'm having trouble understanding the tv schedule. Or they're having trouble posting it in an intelligible manner. I think I'll go with the latter.
Demitoes melting in a heatwave! Just like the pointy-toed shoes of the wicked witch curling beneath the fallen house..
MERCY Deni......relief = dipping below 100?!?!?! Our local weather prognosticator warned of a 90+ degree day in our immediate future, which seemed overly-toasty until I read your post. Sounds nearly balmy now. So sorry about the toll ma nature is taking on you and your beleaguered tomato plants. I shall creatively visualize you cozied up inside with the air conditioner cranked up and the Olympics on the TV - avoiding flying houses and sipping a root beer float. Funny you should mention root beer floats, I was on my way home from a particularly unpleasant appointment recently and decided that was exactly what I needed. There is a little ice cream shop in Carlton that features a "gourmet" root beer float and I must say, it turned my day around.
The politics have totally descended into the twilight zone now. All the talking heads were exploding this morning after t(rum)p suggested the "2nd amendment folks" could assassinate President Hillary to prevent her from appointing judges to the SCOTUS. One commentator noted that even the mere candidacy of the orange fascist was toxic to our democracy. I could not agree more. It is encouraging to watch at least some of the Repugs give lip service to the idea that they will put country ahead of party and denounce their demented and dangerous candidate. I have never been much of a Hillary fan but have warmed up to her following all that I learned during the convention. I now believe she will be a great president, not to mention the fact that she is all that stands between us and anarchy. It is scary that dark forces continue to dribble out their e-mail conspiracy theories to undermine her credibility. I too feel hopeful that our citizens will clean house (and senate) and restore some Dem-sanity to the government. Still, the megalomaniac is greasing the skids for his landslide loss by undermining faith in the election process. And we all know he will not go graciously or quietly down to defeat. He has awakened the most virulent elements of human nature in some of his followers and given them permission for (armed) rebellion. GO HILLARY......WE SO DESPERATELY NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP.
Things are relatively quiet on the farm front. (politics notwithstanding) Ms. Kizzy caused a bit of concern over the weekend with a nasty bout of "dead-rear." Not sure if the source was a very ripe chipmunk carcass (Mocha kitty is a mighty huntress but she doesn't always consume her entire prey) or a very green apple. Things seem to be be normalized now, but you can be sure I have become more vigilant in patrolling the grounds!
We must all keep the faith, FABS. We worked together to protect America from disaster in the last two elections, we can do it again!!!!
+~~
Sherry
