Up to 45 today and hopefully the snow will melt on the sidewalk because it has turned in to a sheet of ice in many spots. Treacherous!!
Hope things are well in FABland. I'm finally on the mend, coughing a little less and able to get the Daisy girl to the park. She has been very sweet and patient since I have been sick, and a lot of company.
May do some sewing today; I'm trying to make Amy a throw for her couch. But it is a late start for Christmas. Whenever is good enough.
Thanks for the bright spot, Candy. Sweet Daisy Dancer is a joy to behold, a beautiful antidote to the horrific news of this week. As the world goes sideways around us we need to focus on that which brings us joy. I wish that for all my FAB friends.
Life is wet and quiet up here on the farm. The hens and I are very grateful for milder temperatures. I am anticipating the solstice with all my gardener’s heart. I am not a Christmas person, but the winter solstice just butters my biscuit BIG TIME. :-}
Finally got a new router, ordered from Costco to go with the new modem. It's quite fabulous and I'm finally on and not getting kicked off.
The weather has been beautiful here. Climbing into the high 70's. So I've been outside working on the yard. I thought once again winter came before I was ready, But since winter decided to be weird, I'm actually getting everything done outside.
All this extra time has ushered in new projects! I decided I needed to turn the deck into a pseudo greenhouse. Layla won't freeze when she insists on being outside, I can put all the potted plants there and drumroll... I can do my early seed-starting right on the deck and maybe do it right this time. It'll just be plastic panels that can be unscrewed in spring and stored for next year. We'll see how it goes.
Maaaan my fingers are like thumbs today. I keep hitting the wrong keys, moreso than usual. I'm saving what I write every few minutes in case I hit a wrong key and lose everything. I've already done that once today, I'm lookin' at you Sher-Bear and sending love, since my email was a bust, love'll hafta do for the moment.
Mike wants to go buy a xmas tree. I really can't find in me to get a xmas tree when it's almost 80 degrees outside and I just found another cucumber under the marigolds. Yuletide marigolds and cucumbers!!! Works for me!
okay I gots to go check my pages of emails now ...sigh...
Yay to Solstice~ Wimmies Forward Forever!
fuck the asshole fascist chickenhawk republicans teahadists!
I love the thought of you gardening in December! And how does it get any better than Marigolds and cucumbers-really??
I am slowly recovering, still coughing. The Daisy girl has been so patient with her short walks and my urgings to "hurry up". She's a really sweet girl. A joy in my life. We are going to try the dog park today; even if it is a brief visit, she will enjoy it.
No tree for me this year-can't do the pollen with the asthma. Sherry how are you doing amidst the wind and flooding?? I have been worried. Matt, my son in Oregon, has been slammed with work with all the problems.
We have snow coming tomorrow, but 50 today. Not bad. Hope all is well with all the FABS. Enjoy the season, the weather and life!! SO glad to hear from you all.
So pleased to know you are feeling better Candy. I feel certain that your Daisy friend appreciates the activities you ARE able to provide and beyond that, all she needs is love from her human. I am always moved by the connection I have with my furry familiars. They seem to lock into the realities of the moment and manage to provide unconditional love and support in their own inimitable way - 24/7. I would not want to even imagine life without puppy love!!
Great to have our Deni back online, and sharing gardening adventures with us. May I also go on record to echo the political sentiments shared herein as well! This political "season" has gone from slightly amusing/cringe-worthy to frightening and deeply repulsive. I clearly remember loathing the Shrub, but managing to accept that Americans stand by our President in times of threat and trauma. A certain orange-haired fascist seems determined to destroy our unity and bring out the worst in the lunatic fringe. I am sickened by crowds that can be worked into a frenzy with lies and destructive divisive rhetoric. Deliver us from such evil!
On a local note, we are indeed being battered mercilessly on the West Coast. Relentless record rainfall, high wind, rivers beyond flood stage.....NO FUN and no end in sight. My farm is well situated on high ground, and my huge trees are not close enough to the cottage to present a threat. The steep winding quarter-mile driveway is a challenge but so far so good. I have to be vigilant to keep the ditches cleared, (blockage diverts rushing water onto the road and can be quite destructive) but this is a small inconvenience when compared to what others are having to endure.
Oh FABS, the solstice is only ten days away - REJOICE the approach of longer days and the promise of spring!!! Meanwhile, keep dancing!
All I can say on the political front is the repugs have given new meaning to the song "Send in the Clowns". If Trump gets the nomination, Hillary wins...if he doesn't and goes independent, Hillary wins so from my perch, Hillary will break glass ceiling with a bang! My only big problemo is Bubba as first gentleman...yuk.
Lots 'a rain here but no flooding like north of here. But, you shoulda seen the hail yesterday...huge. So glad Anderson was tucked away in his little house. The street turned white it was so much.
My gorilla's recovery is complete and is he a happy boy or what! Seems I am living with another man. Speaking of new men, I am in bed with Jon Meacham and he is telling me all about Poppy Bush...hahahahahaha.
Here's to no flooding, hot weather, bad health. Yule's be merry and bright!!!
Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas to everyone!! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the season, with our new weather reality. We seem to have 60 one day and the 16 the next. Good to layer.
Daisy and I are trying to get ready for Christmas, as it appears to be coming whether we are prepared or not. My plans to make stuff has fallen so far behind that it will be a New Years gift I suspect. But I am feeling better and gaining a bit of stamina day by day, which is good.
I wish for a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year for us all. Not too much to ask-is it?? Hope not.
Daisy in the sun gettin' ready for Xmas, drawing out the Solstice, drawing down the Moon.
The shortest day and the longest night. There's a poem in there, but it escapes me at the moment.
Light is working FABS! Mike's mom goes back to Rehab from the hospital. Much pleasanter place to spend Xmas! Keep the light shining, you rocking women.
