Oh Frogs...
Oh the humble frog with it's humbelly, spirit of rain, goddess of the moon, Tlaltecuhtii earth mother! So nice to hang with you here my friends. As I am donning very best frog face to greet the hopping people, Note: doing the frogs lips make your nostrils huge. Every time I look at that image, I just see these giant nostrils. The sacrifices one makes for the toad souls! You'll have to click on the pic to properly appreciate the DemiToad's nostrils~
After my post a week or so ago, I kept checking back but no one posted. So I decided not to wait any longer, to do a new post and just see what happens. This me at one of the garden centers posing with the frogs. I have this friend who loveth the frogs, you know who you are! so naturally the frogs, they called to me. And I called right back!
It's still raining here. The ditch digging has been stymied by the rain. Playing with the dog was a giant failure and I am now meditating on his puppy happiness! Things are humming or rather dripping along. I know I said I wanted to be in Oregon, But this with the endless rain and terminal drizzle is so not what I had in mind.
Somebody's chickens flew the coop. A pair were last seen sauntering down the sidewalk heading for towards Walgreens. I hope they know what they're doing.
How is everybody? I am doing better and better each day. As are the mosquitoes! They're in fine form, fit and ready to go. I was looking at bat houses cause I read somewhere that bats eat lots of skeeters. Who's got rain? And who wants some?:
The Aymara tribe of Peru and Bolivia made small frog images, which they placed on hilltops, to call down the rain.
I'm wondering if there's a sending it back, like 'talk to the hand' rain or 'get thee hither to a dry spot' rain. Surely there is. And it must be easier than calling down rain, right? I mean this rain's already here. I should be able to just skooch over it. Shouldn't I? Who wants some rain?

Oh magnificent M(r)s. G......you are an absolute JOY to behold. (And me thinketh magical mystical frogs do indeed make the world go 'round.) DOG you say? WHAT DOG? Tell us more, por favor! So great to know that you are standing tall in the face of your current water assault. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we are sending all manner of +~~ to intervene in nature's hissy fit being visited upon your sweet self and environment. A pox on extremes.
Off to town now, more later.

p.s. First delicious home-grown tomato already?!?!?! Be still my gardener's heart.
:-}
Mon Sherry!
To read about the dog across the alley, see the post I wrote under the Pike's Peak post. It's the last post on that one.
Yes to the tomato! It was soooo good. I was online yesterday trying to figure out which one it was. All my little name tags committed suicide before I got them transplanted, so the only ones I know the names of are the dwarf Purple Roselles. I think it was a Black krim. Or a Cherokee Purple.
It looks like the rain is just about here. The sky is bery bery dark. I'm gonna go find the cat and herd her to the deck. hahaha! Always an adventure. I don't have one of those cats that comes when you call. Layla is more like, "who are you again?"
Ta Farewell I go to the watery depths or they come to me or something...

Saturday greetings to all FABS
Sending out positive energy to all my pals who are struggling to cope with Ma Nature's wrath. I can't believe this Oregonian could make such a statement, but I would SO welcome and gladly accept some of that terrible Texas rainfall - and not just for altruistic reasons. It is 100 degrees this weekend and my emerging seedlings are going to be roasted before they can even begin to produce vegetables or flowers. I am taking a page from your playbook, Deni......roll with the punches, nurture a sense of humor, commune with the frogs!

Oh Mon Country Ribbitte!
I have sent the rains your way. Have they not arrived? Oh well crap I just went and looked and it's SE of you. Damn. Aimed it wrong. I'm terrible at geography.
We're going to have days, DAYS without rain! My backyard is just mud and weeds and well it's a mess.
100 degrees. Oh dear. I was reading a while back about saving seedlings by putting a tarp or tarps, some sort of shade cloth over the garden area. I can't remember how many degrees they said it reduced the temp. But I did store the tarp part in my brain, so it must have sounded worthwhile.
We may finally be at the end of this Primary by tonight! Yayyyyy!
And on to the little orange man...

So much sadness and not a little anger today at the horrible shooting. I don't have any words. I wanted to check in with the FABS and see how everyone's doing.

Monday greetings to all y'all
Wow, awesome Deni, Oregon has been cooled down and showered....YOU ROCK!! Haven't seen any horrible flood reports from Texas lately - everything okay? It has been a blur of June activities out here in the country recently. Baby showers, birthday parties, engagement celebrations. As always, the world is in flux. My titles are expanding, I am about to be a great-aunt. Sounds a bit "grandiose," eh? I think it just signifies an advancement in age as the new generation arrives. I remain grateful though, I mean, what are the alternatives, after all?
I hope everyone had the pleasure (and comfort) of watching Elizabeth Warren roast the nuts of the horrific orange egomaniac? It was DELICIOUS!! Here is a link in case you missed it and are ready to reclaim a little hope for the future:

I choose to believe that the FABS are well and busy, I send +~~ to all.

Hey Deni
Looks like we were composing simultaneously, I did not see your last comments before I posted. I agree with your observations of recent deplorable events. To be candid, I have been struggling to sort through the implications and work through the despair. I admit that, as a defense mechanism, I have attempted to focus my heart elsewhere. The unthinkable potential in a few rotted souls is beyond disconcerting - it cannot be understood from any decent human perspective. I wonder if the antidote is to acknowledge our support and compassion, and move forward to emphasize the vast majority of goodness in our world? Easier said than done.
Peaceful wishes to all

Such wise words oh Mon Sherry of the rain-blessed Willamettes!
We had days of no rain. But back it came on Saturday. And Sunday. We just finished a few minutes ago with another torrential pourdown. So the tears from sky go on and on.
Great aunt? Or the Greatest Aunt?!
I did get to see Warren and her orange nuts flambe. She so rocks.
Love and dragons,
Demitoes
In honor of your words Sherry, I'm posting this wonderful story.
acknowledge our support and compassion, and move forward to emphasize the vast majority of goodness in our world
Here is a Facebook post that has gone viral from New Yorker, Amaira Hasan.
"Just now, on my way to work, a man got on my train yelling as he came onto an incredibly packed train for the "two terrorist foreigners to go back to where they came from." These two "terrorist foreigners" were two (understandably terrified) hijabi Muslim women. Before I could say anything, the entire train erupted in anger. A black man, a Romanian, a gay man, a bunch of Asians, and a score of others came to their defense demanding that this man leave these women alone and get off this train. The man insisted that the two women go back home and take their bombs with them.
After some back and forth, one man said, "This is New York City. The most diverse place in the world. And in New York, we protect our own and we don't give a fuck what anyone looks like or who they love, or any of those things. It's time for you to leave these women alone, Sir."
I couldn't have said it better. Sure enough, our train was stopped. This royal douche got off the train to the sound of cheering.
I say all this to say that in light of all the bad happening around us, remember that there's so much good and so much love.
I'm late to work, but it was for the best reason."
Oh Ms. G.......what an uplifting story, thanks for sharing! And YES!!!! That is where we need to focus like a laser. Rachel Maddow aired a couple of very putrid demented fake-pastor "the bible says we should kill and/or rejoice the killing of gays" clips last night, but her larger and WAY more important emphasis was on the outpouring of love and support from across the globe. Just so, we shall continue to smother evil with peace and dignity. Can't eradicate it but we can remain steadfast as we throw the spotlight the ratio.
I noticed that Dallas is in store for a 95-100 degree Wednesday. Our plants must be convinced that Ma Nature has morphed into a monstrous schizophrenic. However, gardeners are a determined and resourceful lot, we shall cope! I will soon be joining you in tomato bliss. My "indigo rose" (an Oregon hybrid) bush has TWO tomatoes that are beginning to turn, a juice-decorated chin is only days away.
:-}
I had to chuckle yesterday when the blog made me prove I am not a robot by identifying CANDY. On the subject of CANDY, I say hello and send warmest wishes to our quiet FABS. I would welcome an update as time allows.
+~~

I'm trying to put up another post for Solstice and I can't remember how to! Oh this is so sad... I'll figure it out!
